Funded by Cancer Council Victoria and the Victorian Government, SunSmart is a skin cancer prevention program dedicated to reducing skin cancer incidence, morbidity and morality. The additional SunSmart Global UV app provides information on the UV levels in any location along with sun protection times.
Working at Cancer Council Victoria, SunSmart and their web developers, I had the opportunity to design the new widget layout. As part of the app, the free widget will allow users to select their location and be informed of the daily weather forecast, live UV index (current and max) and recommended sun protection times.
Based off the SunSmart Global UV app, the design features the main arch for the timeframe between 6am to 9pm, a white circle indicating the current time and the highlighted yellow portion of the arch to the recommended sun protection times. The layout was created with simplicity in mind, keeping the user informed on the most important information i.e. when sun protection is recommended with the factoring information surrounding it in a straight-forward interface, allowing the user to select their location.
Once the designs were approved, it was passed onto the web developers to make it functional and usable. Once the widget is live, this page will be updated. Until then, check out the SunSmart Global UV app.
