My second time creating a custom artwork. A friend of mine, Izzati, requested an 80s themed custom artwork for her bedroom. With the example concepts shown, I thought to incorporate her room into it but made changes to give that feeling of calmness and serenity, leading to the name ‘Sereneighties’, a combination of ‘serenity’ and an ‘eighties’ feel. Measured at 300 x 300mm, printed locally on 100% recycled paper here in Melbourne, Australia.
“At first I didn’t have a clear vision what I wanted my artwork was going to be like. I just told Nasyeetha that I wanted the 80’s theme to influence the idea around it. It was just a vague description how I wanted it to be. So I’m thankful she gave suggestions and asked questions to get a clear vision. I guess when you cluster a lot of ideas on your mind, you tend to get lost from where to start 😅. And she would guide you through it. Overall, it was simply a fast process in order to get a good artwork designed by her. I’m astounded with her dedicated work. Thank you!!😊”

The initial design concept was too crowded. I amended it up by replacing an entire wall with ceiling-to-floor double windows to oversee the ocean and its beauty. The design process for this artwork was prolonged. I became too focused on the finer details rather than looking at it as an overall artwork.
By eliminating objects that made the design feel constricted and leaving those that reflected Izzati's personality, it gave the artwork enough room to breathe and give off a relaxed feel.
